Market research RFI - Nærum track

Lokaltog A/S is a local train and infrastructure operator in eastern Denmark covering the traffic areas for the Capital Region and the Region of Zealand.

This market research is prior to the EU-tender we expect to send out during the fall of 2022.

In total, Lokaltog operates 58 trains on 9 lines with 350 km of single-track lines and surrounding infrastructure including workshops and stations. Our lines are not interconnected. However, our lines are attached to the national infrastructure in one end of the lines. Banedanmark handles the national rail infrastructure in Denmark.

Lokaltog intends to replace 4 pcs. of Siemens Regio Sprint DMU train sets and create supporting charging/electrical infrastructure. These 4 train sets are short trains (27 m.) and operates 8 km on a closed track area in the Capital Region.

Lokaltog intends to tender a total solution for trains and supporting infrastructure as a package with a lifetime of +30 years.

Due to a political decision, Lokaltog has decided to replace DMU technology with zero emission solutions to reduce the carbon footprint significantly.

Lokaltog expects to put the first delivered trains into service during 2026.

Daily, Lokaltog delivers a performance rate on timetables on 97.8%. Lokaltog has the highest passenger satisfaction in Denmark. Lokaltog wants to maintain this result and expand the position in the future.

RFI – frame for questions in connection with Market research 2021

1. Lokaltog intends to tender trains and infrastructure for delivery mid 2026 under one contract.
2. Lokaltog intends to tender a light rail or train solution that can facilitate the line in an optimal way (note the weight limitations axel load 16 tons/5 ton per meter).
3. Lokaltog intends to tender the total solution (trains and infrastructure) on a proven rolling stock platform.
4. Possible solutions if Lokaltog decides to buy a tailor made solution.
5. A TSI compliant rolling stock/infrastructure solution is preferable as Lokaltog would not have to alter the existing Safety Management Systems.
6. The supplier will be responsible for homologation of the offered solution.
7. The supplier should consider the profile and length of the rolling stock platform to take personal, passengers and bicycles into consideration, see Appendix 1.
8. The datasheet with specifications on the Regio Sprinter is enclosed, see Appendix 2.
9. The supplier should consider a platform height 550 mm from the top of the rail.
10. The optimal duration of a spare part agreement for this type of rolling stock.
11. At present we have a time schedule with departure every 10 minutes which can be intensified when the new light rail (Ring 3) will open, see Appendix 3.
12. The solution from the supplier should contain immunization of the line.
13. Experience with similar projects.
14. Etc.
